The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for speech therapy services; services include evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders, swallowing disorders, and video fluoroscopy swallowing studies. Serves a resource for staff in dealing with participants with communication, speech, and swallowing difficulties.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction.
Reports directly to Operations Manager.
SPEECH-LANGUAGE & AUDIOLOGY PRACTICES QUALITY ASSURANCE-Knowledge of established Quality Assurance (QA) procedures; ability to measure and assess Speech-Language and Audiology (SLA) practices to ensure their effectiveness as compared with a predefined acceptable range.
HEALTHCARE REGULATORY ENVIRONMENT-Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulatory bodies affecting healthcare practices.
CLINICAL POLICIES AND STANDARDS-Knowledge of and ability to use industry standards, policies and procedures relevant to function and organization.
PATIENT ASSESSMENT AND CARE-Knowledge of and ability to assess ailments and injuries of patients and implement a treatment plan.
HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY-Knowledge of healthcare industry's trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations and trendsetters.
HEALTH INFORMATION DOCUMENTATION-Knowledge of the relevance of health information and appropriate documentation methods; ability to record medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form.
Master's degree in Speech Pathology required. Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association required. Licensure or eligibility for license, by the State Board of Speech Therapy within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
Minimum two years of experience required.
Work performed in clinical environment-Universal Precautions
Travel may be required
Work involves walking/standing for extended periods of time

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
